How art is important to develop a child’s mind.

A picture is worth a thousand words, and the mind of a child who has been exposed to art has the potential to produce a beautiful life for themselves million times over. The life of a child is the most precious life in existence. Because of its pure potential to go in any direction, it must be developed into an instrument that can picture the best of the best in life. Art incorporates many factors that a child needs to succeed in this world. It teaches the child to think creatively and to solve problems that come up in life in a original and artistic manner. Teaching art in the classroom helps students develop their visualization skills. Imagine how many problems that you have personally could have been avoided if you only had the eye to visualize solutions before they even started? Art teaches children to develop their sixth sense when dealing with situations in life that people wouldn’t otherwise see.

Think about the effects of looking at something beautiful. Furthermore, think about looking at something beautiful that you have single handedly created yourself. Your artistic creations make you appreciate and value your life more. They give you a greater sense of wellbeing and a sense of accomplishment. The effect is enhanced even more when children produce such beautiful works of art. They are less likely to want to go out and be destructive once they realize the time it takes to create something that is truly meaningful and beautiful. Art teaches children to develop their deep insight and intuition. It takes a great deal of intelligence to arrange ideas, shapes, and concepts into a visually pleasing composition. Art teaches children how to emotionally express their feelings through a vehicle more effective than simply verbal communication alone.

this is true. an art is very essential to a child's mental growth. it shows how a person would become when he/she grows up.

To stimulate a child's mind, a parent must encourage the kid doing art projects like drawing or painting. it will trigger a child's creative abilities.

I must agree with the statement. Art promotes the child's ability to make judgement and decisions in any situation at hand and it allows one to determine what feels right or when a task is done. A child's art is free of inhibitions with an openness to take risks and experiment. Later on, it defines what he or she will become.

I can relate to this topic. I'm a parent myself and we should teach our children in drawing and making pictures. Artwork is very important that we should talk less and draw more. It can help a child make sense of the world around him or her and enables one to celebrate pleasures or express worries and anxieties as well.

Totally right, Liam. Drawing, artwork and craft escalate visual intelligence and become a channel through which a feeling for beauty, harmony and order is further developed. Children have the potential to be better at thinking and learning. As a parent, you can provide greater richness and diversity to your child. And this is how artwork comes in.

Perhaps this blog is a startling revelation to people who are indulge with so much information from the media. The world has introduce a lot of expensive materials of developing a child's mind when in fact a person can find a perfect material for his child through art by just using crayons and paper. It's less expensive but more effective.

I have to agree with you, Katie. Either milk or vitamins for kids is not enough to fully develop a child's brain. It needs application. It takes pen and paper to trigger one's creative thinking. My profound belief is that drawing can enable a child to make visible what is imaginary, which is why art plays a vital role in our daily life.

Thanks for posting this. You have no idea how this topic can enlighten a reader's mind. If I may add, our lifestyle is totally based on art. Without art, our lives would become meaningless and could not be fulfilled. A nation or society becomes great and known because of its art. So it's very significant that art should be teach in schools.

A philosopher said that if you yourself is not a great seer, you can't produce the great art. It can only mean that art makes a man perfect and successful in his life. Parents should take note of this, they are the instruments of giving their children a bright future by teaching them about arts.

It has been said that art is a mother of imagination. Educating children through art is a must since it can express one's creative feelings by the magic touch of art. As a person, art can make his or her life colourful and skillful. Famous philosophers, writers, thinkers, and scientists were having great talent and art is the main source of such talent.

Correct. Kids need to develop a sense of self-confidence and self-esteem as young as they are. If parents will properly guide their kids and introduce them to art mediums, they will be encouraged to communicate their feelings and ideas through visual expression and to analyze, interpret, and evaluate their own work as well as the efforts of others.

Influential and historic, art simply foster a deeper understanding and appreciation for the world of art, and provide the child with the necessary tools for self-discovery. I've been in a studio class before and it gives me the opportunity to nurture my art making skills and allows me to work toward developing and refining my own individual style and aesthetic awareness.

I think people see kids playing with crayons and think it is insignificant exercise--they do not understand how this stimulates learning. Man is often times his won enemy and ignorance is usually the catalyst.

07

May

MiSS_Anthropy

I think Science and Math is more significant to human developed--even art and music uses math at it's bases. I agree that art has it's place but if we had to chose--wouldn't the higher more logical functions prevail?

07

May

Laureli

And who decided that math and science were more logical and high functioning? And what if its mans artistic nature that fuels math and science and not the other way around--this is the short sightedness in which I speak...

09

May

Dream_Catcher

I I have had this argument with fundamentalists who believe that there is something almost inherently evil about art. They point to the liberal ideals that most artists have and call it subversive. What hey do to understand is that artist wee the world different and human beings to evolve out of the dark ages... why is that such a bad thing to some people?

09

May

TRU

It is simple Dream, people are afraid of change and especially people who base their ideals on the concept that change is bad. In my humble opinion, God made man so that he would evolve and grow not remain stagnant--people who try to stick their heels in the mud are missing the point...

What a great observation! I too think that art is grossly underestimated as a learning What a great observation! I too think that art is grossly underestimated as a learning tool. Cognitive reason and logical deduction begins with being able to arrange colors and objects in a cohesive fashion. There are so many aspects to human behavior and I just wonder why some people would try to eradicate parts of our nature that make us a complete whole.

15

May

Mankind

We need to utilize every tool we can to educate our kids. Cutbacks on essential educational aspects like art is not a smart move at all. Our children are the future--we shouldn't shortchange them in any way.

15

I agree -- there has to be a solution to the lack of funding that is occurring in these areas in our nations schools.

15

May

Star Child

Well -- I do know that many celebrities are taking up the cause and putting money into efforts to keep the arts in school. We should help spread the word about this effort too.

For Mother's day I received the sweetest little hand made art pieces from my daughter and son and what made it so great was the love I could tell was put into it. If that doesn't indicate the importance of art and how expressive it can be for children I don't know what does.

18

May

Hayden

I've read somewhere that the ideal age of a child to develop creativity and artistry is age 5 to 6 as they are not conditioned in logical thinking at this stage and their fine motors skills are developing fast, but it's not too late for those who still want their child to be exposed in art because even adult can 're-learn' this artistic ability.

18

May

Not all children do good in school but have success in running business and are great inventors. Albert Einstein was four before he could speak and seven before he could read. Isaac Newton did poorly in grade school. Winston Churchill failed the sixth grade. Kids just need the chance to excel and the freedom to express themselves.

18

May

justin_kyle

I hope that all children are given the opportunity to practice art and creativity. If a child explores its artistic talents, it will be a great breakaway from studies as well. Art and creativity should not be restricted to being an artist but allow any individual to create thing, solve problem differently and contribute to the workforce and society.

18

It has been noted that art helps children to discover their inner self and to extend their cognitive growth. I find it the perfect solution to boredom and stress. Painting is also an ideal way to vent a kid's pent-up feelings. I had a friend who took her hyper active son to an art class to allow his son to channel his energy.

18

May

For a young child, constructing art an effective way to understand, organise, and utilise concepts. Every medium can bring out the best of a child. As a result, an individual can clarify and organize events, recognize relationships and objects and recognize features that distinguish a particular event or experience. Art not ony inspires imagination but also inspires others.

19

crazy like a fox

Human beings are complex animals and there are so many things that can influence us. Out ability to learn is at its highest when we are but babes--I think exposing kids to as many positive influences as possible can be beneficial and that includes art...

19

May

Middle_Earth

Almost everyone I know is artistic in someway and was exposed to art as kids and they are very open, spiritual and loving I have never seen a true real argument against the utilization of art as a tool of education.

19

Miss KITTY

Another great exercise if to sit down and paint with kids--it is a ton of fun and you get to see the world through new unhampered eyes...

Imagine the world with out art and parents should be aware of this: what will be our future if our children are not exposed to arts? Art is a big factor of linking nation to nation. We can understand each other through art because we can gain insight into others from various cultures, eras, lives, beliefs and expressive modes when investigating art and its purpose.

22

I get scared thinking about kids being deprived of art. They already have so much take from them today. They grow up so fast in a world that is more increasingly dangerous--they stay indoors and play video as oppose to run around--what happens when we steal their imaginations?

22

May

KAT_a_Tonic

I really dig this post and the response this far--but as we can see the art world brings to it a brand of intellectuals that are often looked down upon because we can be a bit nontraditional. Movers and shakers and all that. Still, art will never truly diminish no matter what those who don't get it try to do.

22

Lysa_Lysa

I know art has transformed my life and the lives of people I know. Art can touch the hearts and minds of children as well, and shape them for the better.

23

May

Artemis

I read one time that scholars believe that math and scientific prodigies exist but that there is no such thing as an art prodigy. That statement was a slap in the face to great masters of old, who were trained but had marks of artistic genius in them at early age. The arrogance of man knows no bounds when it comes to the creative process.

23

May

Laureli

Arrogance indeed. The mentality goes back to what we have been saying. People who are not artistic think of it as an incidental--a recreation--a past time. They do belve it has any merit beyond those realms--so it is expendable.

23

May

Shangri La

I am simply amazed that we cannot see how important it is to be able to utilize the inborn traits man has to relief stress. People who are all logic and not art tend to be more high strung and prone to heart attacks and stress related disorders. We have an inborn release valve and we need to use it.

23

May

Bueller_Bueller

Humans tend to learn things the hard way. We will get rid of all artistic things and start dying spiritually more and more. Wish we could learn to be more proactive than reactive, but it is not in our nature I guess.

29

There used to be this commercial that said a mind is a terrible thing to waste. Our intellect is man's most precious resource. It certainly pays to get kids out of the stating gate in the best shape possible and exposing them to art and music can certainly do this.

29

May

Bunny

yeah but you have the be careful--some music or art may not be as uplifting or positive as others. Not to censor, but when it comes to building intellect one has to be mindful of influences, esp with kids...

29

May

Orion

right you are, we should be careful of what we put into our child's minds...all things made for good, can be corrupted for evil, including art.

06

June

Laureli

here's the sad thing. People would much rather spend hundreds of dollars on a Nintendo game or Playstation game than take their kid to the art museum or for an evening of culture. We have officially become the junkfood generation in regards to art and entertainment and kids are gonna suffer in the end.

06

June

Occams razor

I wish I could say you are wrong but that is so the truth. Most kids can identify Television icons like the Gieco Lizard or Joe Camel, but barely know anything about common artistic enterprises like puppet shows or plays.

06

June

Laureli

Very true. I mean, America is one of the most obese nations in the world--shows we have grown a bit self indulgent. Art is interactive and we want our entertainment to come to us via TV or video games. Not sur ehow to hagne that but it neeeds to change.

The greatest learning potential in human beings is from infancy to five years of age. During that window it pays to introduced them to everything including art. This can make the kid well rounded and you may be surprised to find you have an art prodigy in you midst!

12

June

The_the

I really agree with you! It makes me shudder to think how many great artists were stunted and forced to go to an ivy league colleges to fit an ideal. I have the sneaking suspicion that may artistic geniuses have ben lost this way.

Pitiful how we can't think outside of the box even in this day and age,.

I know, this has been something that has plagued me as well, especially since I have known parents who take their kids to endless music instructors, then tell them to give it all up and go to law school. One girl was a virtuoso on the piano--still is--but now she is in a stress filled job she hates.

Little kids need to experience self-expression more than having a page from a coloring book to hang on the refrigerator. As a child care provider before, I've had many talks with parents about how their toddler is developing as far as art projects are concern. Art experiences are a major part of a toddler’s daily activities. These kids feel special and good about themselves.

15

Parents have beliefs that have shaped our ways of seeing the child, art, and teaching. Media can enhance our understanding of children and the art media themselves, but art activities are more important to me. Through creating simple art projects, a child is not only learning to take pride in his accomplishments, but also to think and refine his hand-eye coordination and physical skills.
